SUMMARY OF LIST CHANGES
On:
Darren Jolly (traded from Sydney in exchange for picks 14 and 46 in the upcoming draft)

Off:
Anthony Rocca (retired)
Martin Clarke (retired)
Chris Bryan (delisted)
Danny Stanley (delisted)
Johnny Bennell* (delisted)
Kevin Dyas* (delisted)
Toby Thoolen* (delisted)

The Collingwood Football Club is pleased to announce it has appointed former St Kilda backman Max Hudghton as part-time defensive coach for the 2010 season.

Happy with Hudgton, i think he would be a great defensive coach.

Thoughts on the delistings??

No big surprises, perhaps Bennell is the only one I'd query. Was given the chop quickly.

Bryan and Stanley weren't up to AFL standard, and Thoolen never came on.

6 Spots to replace, 3 of them rookie list as it stands. Could even become 4 if we elevate Blair/Keefe/S Reed.

Not sure exactly how the NSW Scholarship works, but there will be 3 players turning 18, who may take spots on the Rookie list.

So, we may be looking at 3 National Draft Picks and 1 Rookie picks, or something similar. Perhaps a PSD pick. More changes could well come I feel, a few more players may still go.

Easier to separate the senior list from the rookies:

With 4 seniors gone, and only 1 (Jolly) added during trade week, it wouldn't surprise me if the rest of the list survives.

Two of the three vacancies must be filled by Draft #30 and Draft #62, but there is no need to use Draft #78 if the Pies have a rookie they'd rather upgrade instead... and I reckon that's what will happen.

That would leave the list balanced, so there are only two reasons for the Pies to make further cuts to the existing roster:

(1) if they want to elevate more than one rookie (or they have a burning desire to draft a brand-new kid at #78, in which case there will need to be one further delisting for every single elevated rookie), and/or
(2) if they want a spare place on the list for the PSD (which seems likely?)

I think we will give Cook one more chance after an outstanding VFL season, I really think this kid can breakthrough, but he has to start playing regularly and Corrie just doesn't look up to it to me.

I think option 1 is fairly likely. Scott Reed should be elevated, and possibly Keefe. It all depends on how we go at the ND, and see what we like at the PSD. I can't think of who would be left by our pick, but maybe a player of about 23-24 who has been held back. You never know what you will find.

I'm not certain, but Rusling will still need to pass some fitness tests to stay on the list.

From this we have room for 5 on our list with Presti and Lockyer outside the list. So can see us using 3 picks in the ND and maybe promoting someone from the rookie list and picking up someone in the PSD perhaps.

No... there are only 38 places on the Primary list, which can extend to 40 if you have two Veterans outside the list. The fact that there are only 3 vacancies on the 40-man list you posted means that you only have 3 vacant senior spots in total (i.e. for both drafts).

In fact, it means Collingwood as it currently stands can't participate in the PSD, because all clubs need to use 3 picks in the ND, even if one of those elevates an existing rookie (which Collingwood didn't do in List Lodgement 1). So without any more delistings, they'll take new kids with 30, 62, and 78, and their list wil be full.

We could delist Corrie, Cox and Cook maybe??
Except, Cook is ok, just can't find his way into the seniors and when he does, he plays crap.
Corrie is coming along very slowly, although, if he gets enough games and plays better in the VFL, he could get a spot and be very useful on the wing for us.
And Cox played ok for around 5 weeks (I think), this year and could replace Shaw. He is also a bit versitial making him handy in the backline. But just couldn't fing good form at the end of the season.

Their the only three I'm thinking of.....

Spewing, but i thought

Fri Nov 13, 2pm - List lodgement two.

Cause what about Essendon for example, who have Welsh and McPhee who are yet to resign?? I'm sure we have players who are yet to resign that may not.

No you can't.. the final date for delistings was 31 October - the only way you can get Ball now is through the ND..

DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!

Spewing, but i thought

Fri Nov 13, 2pm - List lodgement two.

Cause what about Essendon for example, who have Welsh and McPhee who are yet to resign?? I'm sure we have players who are yet to resign that may not.

As far as I understand, final list lodgment date is 2nd of December or something like that... this is to account for players taken in the ND.. players like McPhee and Welsh fall into this category too, coz they'll either re-sign or walk away.. they're not being carted by the club..

Delistings, on the other hand, have to happen by 31 October 2009..

CD made a post about this somewhere, with all the critical dates.. so maybe try and find that post to confirm... I'm pretty sure it's either in the Hawthorn or Carlton forums..

We're not getting Ball anyway.
