Note: I copied a bit of this from another thread I seen in Essendon by Nasty Penguin.....

Collingwoods best team 2009:
FF: O'brien, L.Brown, Goldsack
HF: Maxwell, Presti, Shaw
C: Pendles, Thomas, Johnson
HF: Dick, Cloke, Didak
FF: Medhurst, Anthony, Lockyer
FOLL: Fraser, Swan, O'Bree
INTER: Wellingham, Beams, Sidebottom, Toovey

Question marks:
L.Brown: Could be replaced for N.Brown or Wood. Does an ok job in the backline but to small for ruck.
Johnson: Could be replaced by Cook, Stanley or Barham
Toovey: Might be just ok, Malthouse likes him and will probebly keep him in the team.
Wellingham: Should get better next year, but isn't very influncial, should probebly play down back but could get replaced by McCarthy.
Rusling: If he gets over his injury he could play next year. Very fast player and ok mark, shame he gets injured all the time
McCaffer: Love his accuracy and great mark over head. Should come in to replace: Medhusrt, Dick and could be used down back too.
Wood: Could replace L.Brown, but might not because he isn't versitial enough. May be trade bait
Dawes: Won't get in, with Cloke and Anthony in.

Just looking at that it really seemes that you should chase hard after Bugoyne or a player that breaks the lines seems to be what you are lacking perhaps go after someone like that

Backline: O'Brien, Prestigiacamo, Shaw
Half Back: Maxwell, N. Brown, Goldsack
Centre: Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Thomas
Half Fwd: Lockyer, Cloke, Medhurst
Forward: Didak, Anthony, Davis
Foll: Fraser, Swan, Beams

Bench: L. Brown, Wood, Dick, Wellingham

Emg: Macaffer, Barham, Dawes

Outer: Reid, Rusling.

Already Outta here: Rocca, Clarke

Gone possibly: Presti, Lockyer, O'Bree, Johnson, Fraser, L. Brown, Cook, Corrie, Cox, McCarthy, Rusling, Stanley, Toovey

We need to Trade for: A ruckman, still not convinced by the injury plagued Fraser/Wood combo. Hoping Keefe can come in for Fraser when he retires. A gun mid, i think we were 1 A grade mid from giving out fwds better supply and winning more games. We need a replacement for O'Bree, someone who is going do what he does but, use the ball better and still lay a few more tackles and clearances/hard ball gets.

We need to draft: The best available Midfielder, hopefully we can pick up a gun. If not a KPP, whoever we get we need someone who can play from round 1.

People fighting for the same spot:

Ben Reid v Leigh Brown for the Swingman
Both the same height, Brown is a bit bigger, but Reid may well of put weight on over this season, Reid has been in good form in the VFL and might be a bit more mobile, and can both play fwd, def and a hit in the ruck if required.

Presti v Nathan Brown for Full Back
Will Presti retire, will Brown play CHB and Presti fwd? Both similar builds, so will see how it turns out.

Jaxson Barham v Ben Johnson for the run-with player
Both can play a tagging role on a player, but both need to work on there skill. Whoever impresses the most over the off-season may get more games, although i think Johnson is pretty highly rated within the club.

I think we are a few smart trades from a grand final team (Ruck, inside midfielder) however with such a young squad i think we will still be threat before picking with our current list in another 2-3 years.

Backs: O'Brian - Prestigiacomo - Goldsack
Half Backs: Maxwell - N.Brown - Shaw
Midfielders: Davis - Pendlebury - Sidebottom
Half Forwards: Lockyer - Dawes - Didak
Forwards: Dick - Anthony - Thomas
Rucks: Wood - Beams - Swan
Interchanges: Medhurst - Fraser - O'Bree - Wellingham
Emergencies: Cloke - Macaffer - L.Brown

- Had to make a tough call. I'd rather player Dawes than Cloke. Why? Dawes might kick 1 or 2 goals rather than 1 or 2 behinds. I'd say Cloke should be traded.
- Put Goldsack in ahead of L.Brown. I think L.Brown was mainly in to add to the pinch hitting ruck thing. I'd play both Wood and Fraser with the extra defender.
- Could easily have left Medhurst out for Macaffer.

Trade Aims:
Shaun Burgoyne
Jamie Charman

Cloke was our best and fairest last year remember, i think he os only 22 and playing the toughest posistion on the ground. Id rather keep him.

If Rusling can get fit that would be great for us.

He's one sided. He's slow to make decisions. He's a woeful shot on goal. How many goals did he kick this year? Less than 25 from memory. Lockyer kicked more. He plays midfield and defense sometimes. The guy is going backwards.

Can't play him on "potential" anymore. This guy is an automatic selection and doesn't deserve a game 90% of the time.

yeah 22 goals 26.
But i think if we just had one more very good midfilelder he would get more chances and kick over 50 goals next year.

I just see very little upside to Trav's game. I wouldn't trade him for peanuts. I'd just look very closely at trading him if something good enough was offered.

He's got great hands, he's a great contested mark, but his kicking has actually gotten worse, rather than improved.

2010 will be the year Blair and Blight will make a name at Collingwood. I expect both players to get games next season, Blair will be a very good in and under type and dominated in the VFL this year.

Hopefully we can trade up our pick but supposedly we are putting our 1st rounder on the table during trade week

That kinda makes sense i suppose if they dont think they will get anyone great with pick 13 or whatever it is, if we can get someon good for that then i'll be happy.

We need some players with currency. Guys like Cloke and Medhurst provide something. You will never recruit a good player with offerings like Cook, Cox, Stanley or Johnson.

I'd seriously consider offering Cloke + Pick 14 to Port Adelaide for Burgoyne.
